The Social Policy courses are part of the Directorate of Social Sciences in the School of Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work and Social Sciences.
Social policy is the lively and engaging study of the way in which social issues and policies impact on the well-being of individuals, families and groups in society. Studying Social Policy provides you with the opportunity to acquire knowledge to make a difference in your future career. There is a hands-on, stimulating approach to learning, which uses and draws upon the vibrant local environment.

Teaching has long been offered on the BSc Social Policy programme, where full-time students take three modules each semester for three years.〔http://www.salford.ac.uk/ug-courses/social-policy〕 Modules are provided on a range of topics including health, sociology, citizenship, ideology, research methods, comparative social policy, social exclusion, the family, housing, disability, and young people, among others.〔http://university.which.co.uk/university-of-salford-s03/social-policy-3-years-9000-l400-64999〕 In the third year, students have the option of undertaking a community placement in order to improve their employability and to put their learning into practice.〔http://www.hotcourses.com/uk-courses/Social-Policy-BSc-Hons-courses/page_pls_user_course_details/16180339/220704/w/54948018/page.htm〕 In 2015 a number of social policy undergraduates will volunteer in Uganda and have the opportunity to link this to their placement or dissertation.
